About the NSCA |
|
The NSCA is an International non profit educational association founded in 1978, currently serving 33,000 members in 56 countries. Drawing upon it's vast network of members, the NSCA develops and presents the most advanced information regarding strength training and conditioning practices, injury prevention, and research findings. When I decided to become certified as a personal trainer I conducted research to determine which, of the many certifying organizations available, was the most up to date and advanced in the field. The NSCA's credentials far outweighed any of the others. As a certified member I am required to complete 12 continuing education credits, become certified in CPR and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) every three years. I am also granted access to up to the minute research in sports science, athletics, allied health and fitness industries. The NSCA's mission statement is: "As the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning, we support and disseminate research based knowledge and its practical application to improve athletic performance and fitness."
